Newsletter 7 -
Ay up you bunch of linkers.I hope all's well on this dark, dank, grey autumnal day which somewhat knocks the stuffing out of your initial wake-up 'happy marvellous parvellous friday feeling'.
There is actually a very good argument for emigrating to Australia ie sun on your back, outdoor way of life, baggy shorts, surf dude city but it does get beautifully countered with a tiny detail of 20 million uncouth convicts being endlessly 'in yer face'. So it's never going to happen but when this sort of day rears its sodden head, it does make you think......for a nanosecond. When you have Shakespeare, Dickens, Simon Cowell and Brucie on tap there really is no contest. Don't forget those clickety-clocks at the weekend. 'Spring forward, fall back' is one of the best mnemonics going.
Update
Soon, there will also be a button you can click on, if you would like a link (plus a cartoon) emailed to you first thing Monday morning, to start the week with a tickle, and another one on Friday afternoon to keep that Friday feeling going. Some of you may not be aware that there is a facility on the site if you want something personally linked whether it be an individual fact or a category – the site is a place to share each other's wisdom. There are only two categories that haven't be linked in their entirety..... capitals of the world and English football grounds. So if you do fancy a bit of linking over the next few days then get amongst these puppies.
Your chance to get involved
The site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike. So if you have a link for anything, absolutely anything, regardless of how random the fact is, then submit it and I’ll chuck it out in the stoop and we'll see if the cat licks it up. If it's a slap-my-thigh, wey hey of a link then it will go in the book (as will your name).
Feedback
I would love to get your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. It's new territory for me so any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know at andy.salmon@thinkalink.co.uk . If you would like something linked then let me know and we’ll see what we can do!
Top Linkers
We're not at the end of the month so things could change in the next few days but we have a new kid on the block, Lester Fernando, who is a mean linker folks. Here are two pearlers that have come out of his imagination that are both scoring heavily with all and sundry.....
Somalia's capital city is Mogadishu
Some alley cat has trashed our road. That Mog had issues.
Latvia's capital city is Riga
'Let Viagara give you Rigamortis where it counts!'
This boy is good and is currently joint favourite at the bookies with Chichester Claire for Champion Linker 2008 with Newellie from 'oh so' grim' Bracknell and Phil 'Wurzel' Isaac close behind (I'm so cheap). Btw, Bracknell must be rubbish today with the weather showing it up for all its worth.....bagsy not me!!
The linker in the number 1 spot, come Dec 31st, will be crowned Champion Linker for 2008 and receive a trophy
Bear in mind that this is how you will be known in the book. So it maybe worth changing your user name to your real name & city to prove to your friends that it is actually you! You can always keep the mystery going for a tad longer you little tinker linker...

I’ll leave you with a couple of recent beauts....
Khatmandu is the capital of Nepal
'What does a Khatmandu? Purr in his sleep!'.....'That's an Nepalling joke.'
Malaise means a vague feeling of unease, illness of depression
I see Mel A's been overlooked for the Spice Girls with Mel B and Mel C getting the gig and she's feeling uneasy about it and getting depressed.
Have a fantabulous weekend pop-pickers.
