Newsletter 39 (open) -
Some random calls I need to get off my chest:
1. When holding a door open for someone, how far away should they be for you to think 'aaa, forget it.'.......fifteen yards, twenty, thirty? I'm a 'twenty five' man, myself.
2. I hate British people saying 'movie' as opposed to 'film'.
3. Where does the word 'understand' come from? It really is a ridiculous word.
4. Why don't pencil sharpeners work anymore?
5. I am gutted Sweden didn't beat England 2 nil at Wembley last month, as the headline could have read 'Swedish Au Pair'.
My mother's 1999 pearler is up there with the best. However, I have to give the most humorous shout of the year to my good chum Ross for dubbing me 'Sir Clinkalot' when I told him that I am now going in to prisons to help those who struggle with their literacy. It won't surprise you to read that he used to work for The Sun.
Congratulations to the reigning champion linker, Phil Isaac for 'threepeating' (to use an Americanism) by winning the 'Thinkalink Champion Linker' trophy three times on the spin. The great news for me is that, seeing as you have the silverware Phil, you can take it down to your local engraver's and ask him to do the honours, once more. Hopefully he can now spell your surname. ('Fill. I suck' was a shoddy effort last year)
I have now infected over 30,000 kiddywinks (age 5 to 18) and 2000 teachers with the incurable linking lurgy with many more appointments in my surgery booked up for next year. There aint nuffin that's going to stop Linky getting this bad boy out there on a big, fat old global scale.
Oh, one more thing......Will Ivy kiss (x) Elsie on the mouth?...........or should that be.......Will I V X L C on D Mouth? (order of the Roman Numerals)
Your chance to get involved
The site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike. So if you have a link that slam dunks the bejesus out of all before it then submit it to the site and let's see if the world kneels down at its feet. As it's an evolving site, you can request anything to be linked, absolutely anything. Linking knows no bounds.
Feedback
I would love to get your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. However, it's all new territory for me. I would also appreciate your thoughts on the two books if you have recently parted with some lolly and bought one/both of them. Any feedback is good feedback. So any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know by sending an email to Feedback
