A live interview on Simon Mayo's 'Drivetime' show on Radio 2? This is getting silly....
....but marv at the same time. Tonight @ 6pm, I'll be interviewed, live in the studio, by Liza Tarbuck who is covering for Mayo while he is on his hols. The plan is all coming together. I feel like the Hooded Claw in 'Penelope Pitstop'.
It has to be said that he did have a superb laugh that merits being on the podium of laughs along with.....hmm.....Stuart Hall of 'It's A Knockout' fame and, I reckon, Frank Bruno. Wacky Races was tops, wasn't it? You have to be happy with the cavemen, Rock and Gravel Slag. Tremendous names. I've just seen that the voiceovers are actually in the credits! It must be hilarious to watch them in the studio. One of the guys, Don Messick (Gravel Slag), also does Muttley. It would be a joy to have a couple of beers with him. 'Would you like a beer?'....'Gimme, gimme, gimme.'....'Let's hide our mate's beer'....'Hee, hee, hee' (like only Muttley can - potential podium laugh, in fact?)....'The plan hasn't worked, Don'....'Shicken, fracken, ricken'. I see a potential category in the offing...'Wacky Races drivers and their vehicles'. The Slag brothers, even though they didn't win the most races, won the championship (87 points) due to having the most podium finishes (14). All contestants won either three or four races other than Dicky baby and Mutters (00). Good times. Just in case you were wondering, yes, the scoring was based on the FIA's 1961-90 Formula One point-scoring system, i.e 9 pts for 1st, 6 for 2nd and 4 for 3rd.
I've just come back from a fortnight in the sun and have to tell you about a great game to play which some of you probably already do. It's called 'Guess the nation'. Walking past a family who is either on the veranda supping some suds or cooking a BBQ (BrisBane is Queensland's capital), you need to guess which country they are from. Once you have mouthed to each other your guesses, you then take a peek at the EU car registration plate which has the abbreviation for each country on the left hand side. It's a blast. Having played it a fair bit, these are my conclusions about each country......
Absolutely nothing!
We all look the same as far as I can gather. The only giveaway is the Dutch insisting on wearing their garish, orange football shirts at every given opportunity. One guy we met who, to quote Tim 'Nice but dim', was a damn, nice chap wore his shirt, I reckon, about 10 days out of 14. This could be down to one of three reasons.......a) He has 10 of them (a worry), b) He is extremely efficient and washes it every day (great admin but pitiful at the same time) or c) He's a minger. (the bookies' favourite).
When I'm next in California, I do need to ask The Eagles what on God's earth 'Colitas' is and what is a tiffany-twisted mind?
Don't you just love the irony of people mispronouncing the word 'Mispronunciation'? (They say 'Mispronounciation')
I'm done.
Your chance to get involved
The site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike. So if you have a link for the most random of facts, then bung the puppy up and let's see who gobbles it up. As it's an evolving site, you can request anything to be linked, absolutely anything. Linking knows no bounds.
Feedback
I would love to get your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. However, it's all new territory for me. I would also appreciate your thoughts on the two books if you have parted with some lolly and bought one/both of them - any feedback is good feedback! So any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know by sending an email to Feedback

Let's finish off this month's fun and games with links for the Chinese New Years. There are 12 and I have done them starting from 2000 to 2011. So whatever year you want, you just add or subtract 12 until you get to your year. For example, I was born in 1965 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 2001 so I am a snake, which is about right. It begins in late-Jan/early-Feb. So if you are born in January then knock a year off.
2000 - Dragon....A dragon's smoke rings O O O....
2001 - Snake....A wiggly 1 looks like a snake
2002 - Horse.....I'm 2 hoarse to speak
2003 - Ram....A ram's horns are shaped like the number 3 on its side
