'Minus 66!' says Spectacled Sebastian Spod
Isn't it just such a great feeling when you walk out of your Maths GCSE (or O-Level, if you're a fellow crumbly) convinced you've nailed the 'biggie' question with your answer of '48'. So much so, that for the first time in 3 years you stroll over to the cabbage patch kids, armed with their rulers and compasses, chewing your gum and rolling your shoulders like the Hofmeister Bear, asking King Dweeb himself what was his answer, confident that he's going to '48 you off!' (I make no apologies for my 21st century 'Street' speak as I'm so darned hip). Your life comes crashing down all around you when he splutters, a la Samuel Tweet, 'Minus 66'. As well as spit all over your face, the deflated feeling inside hurts so much. Still, you have to give it the old 'Excellent, thanks you complete dork.' and walk off to have a natter with your bud 'Big Dave' about something very hard and macho. Talking of Big Dave.....a while back I conducted a YouGuvna poll amongst my peers to find out how many of them knew of a Big Dave and the results were the antithesis of the recent polls........17 out of 20 claimed to have been acquainted with a Big Dave and only 4 of them were talking about the same guy. I know not of a Big Steve or Big Mike or any other Big whatevers. It's bizarre (a splendid word btw) but there's definitely something in it.
One more quickie.....why on God's earth can't people run properly???? I'm cool with the 20 something girl running for her plane with her wheelie, trolley jobbie in tow and her 'hands-up, your nicked' run but what is it with people who actually go for a run in the park looking like they've had the complete stuffing knocked out of them making Mr Izzard look like Master Bolt?? Not being able to tap dance like Roy Castle or stutter like Jason Robinson or moonwalk like Micky J, I'm fine with. But, running? Oh, please.
Sorry, I know all this has naff all to do with linking but these things just have to be said. A topical call before we move on......where do you weigh a pie?..........have a ponder.......hmm.......Somewhere over the rainbow, weigh a pie.
Don't fight it.
Update
Linky is busy finishing off his book and could do with some last-minute assistance. I'm revisiting some old links and improving the weak ones, i.e the ones that are averaging under 6. Your chance to get involved
The site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike. So if you have a link for anything, absolutely anything, regardless of how far out of left-field it is, then submit it and let's see what the campers think. If it's a 'well, you could knock me down with a feather' link then it'll go in the book (as will your name).
Feedback
I would love to get your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. However, it's all new territory for me. So any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know at andy.salmon@thinkalink.co.uk
