Village people are barking mad!
In London, I wasn't the most popular of chappies at the best of times. Now I've shifted my not-so sweet derriere down into the coonry with 'er indoors and the 3 dustbin lids, it's probably got worse, especially with my recent jaunts. When I was in the Smoke, I did naff all exercise, in any rubbish shape or form, for the last ten years. I'd like to think it's because our triplets turned up discombobulating (such a top word) our routined lives. Alas, it's a lame excuse. Now I'm working from home, with no commuting in site, I feel forced to start doing some fitness nonsense......and there's only so much Jane Fonda a man can take. So, I started running with the dawn chorus. Problem is that any household that has a dog gets woken up by it barking at me like it's going out of fashion. Every morning, I pass five families that are 'canined up' who I'm sure aren't the happiest of bunnies. I see a couple of them at the local shop whilst getting the paper and I can feel the head-shaking going on behind me as they queue up. One other downside for running in the country is the lack of pavements therefore the lack of people to hide behind when a lorry ploughs through a puddle soaking me with an aqua Mexican Wave. And don't get me started on how many ditches I've had to jump into avoiding fat old tractors and combine dooberry wotsits. I dunno, you take the man out of London......
Update
All is well in the world that is Link. I'm about to have second meeting with a the market leader in educational games for people with learning difficulties which excites me, no end. I know I keep givin' it sum about Letter Linking but this bad boy really is having an impact on people with spelling issues. I'm also meeting up with a TV production company about a possible documentary about how it's helping dyslexic sufferers. Early days but worth getting flustered about. Talking of winning £1000 on the local radio......last October, my children told me to try and win a grand on Heart FM's £1000 minute as it's extremely basic general knowledge. I said that if I won it then I'd ship in a prezzy each for them which excited one of them ridiculously. So much so that from that day he stood over me every morning with a rolling pin in hand saying 'Redial, redial, redial...etc'. It is so easy to get through that over the next few months I got on and failed 6 times!!! Three 9 out of 10s, two 8s and a 7 with soap & pop questions seeing me off. If it aint Genesis or teeny bop city then I'm not yer man. Anyway, I had to press on until I won to get him off my back, literally. My better half was getting a tad embarrassed around the village, having a complete clown as a husband who has no shame, especially being Sir Linkalot an' all. Finally, on Jan 4th I won the dosh which pleased everyone especially my son, Freddie who enquired....'So what's the John Dory with the lolly, pop?' I said that his mother and I were going to spend half of it on a weekend away from him and his two siblings and this is how the conversation went..... 'So, what's £500 divided by 3 then, dad?.....'£25 son.'.....'Eh??'....'3 x £25 = £500'...'I don't get it.'...'You're getting £25 and be happy before I say it's less.' Off he went in a huff but I do like his style. One household can only win every 6 months. So, come American Independence Day, I can guarantee you that at 7.50am there will be a little'un tapping his feet with a rolling pin in tow, tilting his head at me, pointing at the phone when I walk in. Redial, redial, redial.....
Your chance to get involved
The site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike. So if you have a link for anything, absolutely anything, regardless of how left-field the fact is, then submit it and let's see what the campers think. If it's a 'well I'll be'' link then it'll go in the book (as will your name).
Feedback
I would love to get your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. However, it's all new territory for me. So any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know at andy.salmon@thinkalink.co.uk
