Hi Linker
Welcome to the world of linking!!!!
I thought I would email you to say hello and welcome aboard.
Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your support over the last few weeks. The response to the launch of the site has been tremendous and the site has already built up a loyal following of regular linkers.
The site is in its embryonic stage so there are lots of things to come in the not too distant future. For example, next week you will see the top 10 linkers for June decided by average score. This will happen every month and the overall best linker for 2008 will be crowned 'Champion Thinkalink Linker for 2008' and will receive a trophy!
Your Chance To Get Involved
If you have a link for anything, anything whatsoever, then submit it. Here are a couple of examples that are one-off, mad, random jobbies under 'Miscellaneous' in 'Science & Nature but just have to be on the site for all to see....
- 'Which way do you tighten a nut?' - Righty tighty, lefty Lucy! (I got that one from my gardener!)
- 'What months have 31 days?' - Put your knuckles together and start from either end, touching each knuckle followed by the gap between the next one and so on, counting January, February....etc. Each month, which is a knuckle, not a gap, has 31 days! (Compliments of my mother!!)
As I have said on my video, the site is a meeting-place for linkers & learners alike and I hope you fall into both categories. Lots of my links could certainly be improved upon so if you feel you have a goodie then submit it and let's see what happens! If it's a strong one, it will go in the book as will your name and if it's a link to put all other links to shame, then it will have a colour cartoon by it scribed by one of England's finest, Bill Stott! It doesn't matter if you have a link that may not work for people in general. If it works for you it may work for one other person out there and that's mighty fine by me!
This is my first opportunity to ask you all for your thoughts and observations on the site, good or bad. This has been a passion of mine since 1995 and it's finally come to fruition which is hugely exciting. It's new territory for me so any guidance or tips on what does and doesn't work will be warmly received - please let me know at andy.salmon@thinkalink.co.uk
Coming Up!
There will soon be a 'Hype' page up on the site (a homepage if you like) with the latest news, quotes from celebs, link of the week, suggestions, video/radio recordings and other bits and bobs.
Competition
See if you can solve this. If you can, then email me at andy.salmon@thinkalink.co.uk and you will be entered in a draw to win £100!
I now have a ******* ** **** and I'm glad it's night as there's less chance of me getting caught!
Thinkalink Out & About
I appreciate this will be too far afield for some of you but I will be co-hosting a Quiz Night for the next few Mondays at the Freemason's Arms in Wandsworth. The quiz itself is from 8.15pm to 10.15pm and is a fairly tame one so there will be no pressure on you to do well. I will be doing some links at the start followed by a category which I will teach the participants (this Monday's is the 10 biggest countries). I will then get each team to try and link five random facts which I haven't linked to date. This will then run alongside the usual quiz which the regular quizmaster will host. I will be there from 7pm till 11pm so if you can't make the whole evening, then pop in to say hello as I would love to meet you. It's a very swish, up-to-date, roomy pub in a lovely setting at the top of Wandsworth Common. It serves great food and has many tables outside. For what it's worth, it's Johnny Vaughan's local and he loved the site when we spoke on the radio recently so he may make an appearance one Monday, who knows!
If you do fancy getting a table together for this or another Monday (min four people, no limit!) in the not too distant future, then let me know and I'll book it for you.
Have you experienced any problems with the site?
As of a few days ago, you may not be able to sign in. If that's the case could you click on 'Sign in' and then click on 'Deleted activation email' and you should be back up and running. Sorry for the hassle.
People who have Hotmail (Live) or AOL accounts may have not received the 'Activation email'. We're not sure why these ISPs are blocking this so if you don't mind could you register with a different address.
Future Newsletters
Please let me know if you would prefer for me not to contact you in this way and I will take you off my newsletter circulation list. If that is the case, please accept my apologies.
I have attached the two posters which will be on display in the pub as I think the colour cartoons are out of this world.
I will now shut-up as I have clearly said enough.....for now!
Happy linking and please, whatever you do, spread the joy!
Regards
Sir Linkalot
